About Laura Mak

Laura Mak was a native of Waterford, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University on a gymnastics scholarship and then earned a Graduate Assistant scholarship. Both her bachelor’s and master’s degree are in Exercise Science.

Laura has continually been an innovator of the fitness industry. She and her partners began the first in home personal training business in East Lansing, Michigan. She continued this for three years before moving to Atlanta, GA.

She began her competitive fitness career in Atlanta, by winning the 1998 NPC Nationals and earning her pro card, which took her only one short year. She has won the hearts of her fans and peers by her incredible routines. She has been the creator of several original strength moves and always placed in top of the routine rounds. Laura is known for her "million-watt" smile, as quoted by several of the fitness magazines. She has placed in the top 10 of all the major international competitions. Laura competed in all of the prestigious invitational competitions such as four appearances at Arnold Schwarzenagger’s Fitness International, Fitness Olympia, three European Pro Fitness, and finishing her career in Atlanta by earning an invite to the Show Of Strength. She has placed in the top 10 of all of these competitions and has won the routine rounds a number of times. She has competed in over 20 pro shows, the only athlete to compete in 9 shows in one year!

Laura has also been active in other segments of fitness. She has been a member of different dance teams like Nike’s premier hip hop dance troupe, Culture Shock and Reebok’s Olympic dance team, AAIM ? Atlanta’s Athletes in Motion. She was in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics where she danced, stunted, and tumbled in front of billions of people! Laura now has her own troupe based in LA, called Groove Attack. They have performed at the prestigious Fitness Olympia and the Ironman’s Fitness Expo. Groove Attack is receiving requests on a regular basis.

She created and branded the name "Mak Attack". At first it was her personal training business name. Then, several years ago, Laura became the first athlete to start her own fitness wear clothing line. (This is not just a cute T-shirts and shorts line either!) Because of its success, she began sponsoring about 20-30 fitness shows per year. She also incorporates guest appearances and seminars. Recently, Laura has upgraded her website and it is regularly updated with educational writing, online training, monthly newletter, as well as photos and fitness training tips.

Laura teaches across the country her Master class of "Conditioning Fusion". This two-hour class is a blend of cardio, strength, yoga, and pilates. You can email her for more information about the class and where she is teaching next.

Laura has appeared in all the fitness magazines and several international magazines. She has over 12 covers. She has written numerous articles for the fitness magazines. She has a large fan base of both men and women. She is a role model and leader of the fitness industry who is continually giving back to the sport. Laura has built her reputation on her integrity, hard work, and kindness.
